Affiliate Cash Made

The blog for affiliates….

Archive for January, 2010

You’ve probably notice a huge buzz going around about CPA marketing recently. The truth is, it has been around for a while and now its just coming into the mainstream like many other Internet marketing trends.

CPA stands for Cost Per Action OR Acquisition. Either or.

Now, there are many cpa networks out there but one thing you have to understand is this… They are all privately owned and operated differently. Therefore, each have separate requirements when you sign up. Some newbies have trouble getting accepted onto the networks and therefore never even get the chance to try out  any cpa offers.

This is probably one of main reasons why people fail to get started with CPA to begin with.

With adsense, its relatively easy to get signed up and as soon as you send a couple of visitors to your page, you can receive clicks within the first 24 hours.

Since there are many people coming online and hearing all about CPA marketing stuff and hearing that adsense is dead, I want to set the record straight right now.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of people who are making money with adsense one way or another. Adsense is not dead and it is most definitely here to stay.

The key to adsense is all about “Market Research” and CTR (Click Through Rate). Many newbies make the mistake of picking niches that pay out as little as 3 cents per click. Then they do all the work on a site and within about 4-6 months start receiving a decent amount of visitors and clicks to there adsense links.

Only to find out that they just had 100 clicks in adsense and only received about $3-$5 for the week. This is an epic story told time and time again by many marketers.

Now with cpa…

There can be some great offers that are on the network for a while converting like mad for people who are promoting them. Then the next day they are suddenly taken off of the network because they were not profitable enough for the advertiser.

This happens time and time again and if you’re building a website around one specific offer, you put in months and months of seo work or other traffic driving methods then all of sudden you’re out of luck because the offer is no longer available for you to promote.

Now you’re just left with existing traffic and no real way to monetize it unless you join additional cpa networks that have relevant offers. In the end you will probably throw up adsense just to have some kind of income for all the work that you have put in.

If you’re just starting out and you plan to build  a site for the long term by building backlinks to rank in the search engines then I would suggest going with adsense to begin with. There are many free tools online that can help you do enough market research and select great high paying adsense niches that will be worthwhile.

Once you get some experience under your belt and understand how cpa networks work. Then you can probably go the CPA way but I would highly recommend that you start with adsense since it is the easiest way for you to monetize a site.

I will be going over some great stuff about adsense, market research, CPA networks and more in the future.

So stay tuned!

That’s it for today!

You’re just starting out in search engine optimization and you’ve done a lot of  research on the topic and find out that there are different types of methods to use in order to rank in google, yahoo and BING.

Some of the methods you’ve come across probably are effective and some are probably not.

Many people get confused when learning about the difference between What Hat SEO methods and Black Hat SEO methods. So I would like to take the time and explain the difference to the best of my ability as well as give you some of my thoughts on both topics.

Lets first start with White Hat SEO. This type of Search Engine Optimization method means that everything done in order to improve your rankings in the search engine page results is mostly done to be in compliance with Google, Yahoo and Bings policy.

Now on the other hand when you use Black Hat SEO it is the complete opposite. Everything done with Black Hat methods are highly frowned upon by Google, Yahoo and Bing. It also has the potential to get your websites banned from all three of the major search engines.

You’re probably wondering why people even bother with Black Hat methods if it has the potential to get them banned from the search engines right? Well that answer is pretty easy…

The reason why most people do it is because it can make you a boat load of money in a short period of time. As oppose to White Hat methods, it can take anywhere from 2-4 months just to start receiving decent results for most sites trying to rank in all of the search engines.  For those who are just starting out, it will probably take you at least 6 months or more in order to receive decent results (This is for most complete newbies that do not receive the right training).

What Are My Thoughts On Both Of These Topics?

For me personally I like to go the white hat way because I plan to be in business for the long term. In addition to this, I am already making a full time living online and I have a lot of patients when it comes to my marketing. So I don’t mind waiting a month or two in order to start receiving the results needed to generate additional income. Also, over the last year and a half I have been studying/testing new white hat methods in order to help me rank quicker than the average marketer. I plan on sharing these methods later on once this blog starts building a loyal following.

As for the Black Hat stuff…

I know a handful of people who are doing a lot of it and they are making in excess of 6 figures yearly. Which is not quite bad for the kind of stuff that they are doing. But the downside to it is that most of there methods are not stable whatsoever. Therefore they have to come up with new methods of manipulating the search engines as soon as there method stops working.

In most cases the stuff they do last anywhere from 1 month all the way to a year which isn’t bad at all either. But sometimes the amount of work that they put into these methods can be very time consuming to say to least.

Which Method Would I Recommend?

Well that’s kind of hard to say. I am not totally against Black Hat stuff because we all know google and the rest of the search engines can really piss you off at times and some people really wish there was a way to get back at these huge companies. But at the same time, it really depends on your needs.

If you’re just starting out and come across some really cool black hat stuff that is making people a bunch of money, I say screw it! Go ahead and do it.  Or if your low on money and time and just want to receive quicker results then I guess black hat stuff would be the way to go.

Now if you are more like me and have more time and patients then I say go the White Hat way. There are many more benefits to being in compliance with all of the search engines rather than trying to go against them. Because 9 times out of 10 you are going to loose.

So to rap it up…

Just be very careful if you decide to include black hat stuff in your everyday marketing and be prepared for disappointment once your methods stop working.

Question Mark For a lot of people who are just getting started online, the big question always seems to be… “Can I really make a living off of affiliate marketing?”

This question comes up all of the time from newbies who are just getting started. To keep it plain and simple…

The answer is yes you can… Or as Barack Obama would say, “Yes we can!” 😉

There are literally thousands of affiliates who make sales on a daily basis by promoting other peoples products. Majority of the affiliates I know don’t even like creating there own product because of all of the hassle that comes along with it. Instead they rather sit back relax, send traffic to offers and cash in on there huge conversions.

I was the same way at first but there are other benefits to creating your products online. But we will get into that some other time. Today, I would like to give hope to the affiliate marketers who are just getting started online, or those who have been doing it for sometime without any real results.

The first thing that you want to have when coming into affiliate marketing is a what I call a marketing mind set. Your mind has to be right before you can even begin on your journey as an affiliate.

A marketing mind set consists of the the following:

  1. Positivity – Chances are if you’re just starting out this is going to be completely new to you and you will be out of your element for a while. This is okay and completely normal. We all have to go through it in the beginning, but just stay positive and keep an open mind because you will be taking in a lot of information during the beginning.
  2. Focus – This is one of the most important factors of them all and at times even experienced marketers have trouble staying focused. In order to be successful online you need to have razor sharp focus. So, try to limit distractions, set a certain time when you’re suppose to work on your affiliate marketing and stick to it, set goals and deadlines.
  3. Motivation – This is another problem that a lot of successful marketers face today. But the truth is, when you’re online and just starting out… You’re really not going to have anyone by your side to push you to do your work. Some days you will feel like doing work and other days you won’t. So it is really important to get motivated on a daily basis before you even start on your affiliate marketing business. You can do this by following self improvement blogs, reading motivating story’s about successful people all around the world and so on. Just stay motivated because its really important!
  4. Dedication – If you’re not dedicated to what you’re doing then you probably shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. Especially when it comes to affiliate marketing. In the internet marketing world, there is no such thing as just giving a 50% effort, you really need to give it 110% at all times. GO HARD OR GO HOME! There is too much competition to just be kicking tires around all day and whining about being broke. If you want it bad enough, be dedicated to what you’re doing and go get it! If you live by this, I promise that you will not fail.
  5. Discipline – It’s going to take a lot of long hours, sleepless nights and most importantly TIME for you to succeed online. If you do not have the discipline to work at becoming successful then you’re destine to fail. Even if you have to kick your self in the butt everyday to get out of bed or if you come home from work tired… You just have to keep it positive and do the work. Nothing in life is free and most of the time the work isn’t hard, we are just our own worst enemy when it comes to talking ourselves out of stuff.
  6. Consistency –  Everything you do online or even in life has to be done consistently in order for you to achieve goals. And with affiliate marketing that is no different. Be consistent… Make a daily routine for your affiliate marketing business and stick to it on a daily basis. Sure, there are going to be those days where you may get sick and stuff is out of your control, but once you get right back on track, just stick to it.

These factors played a major role in my success early on in my marketing career and they still play a major factor in my success to date. The sooner you learn to master this the better it will be for you.

That’s all for today folks!

Hoped you enjoyed!
